These two chips, the ICODE SLIX2 and the ICODE 3 are from different NFC chip families. The ICODE SLIX2, manufactured by NXP belonging to the ICODE family, and the ICODE 3, manufactured by .
The ICODE SLIX is part of NXP's ICODE family of chips. The ICODE series is older than NXP's NTAG series and has a number of significant differences - particularly a longer 8 byte UID and a longer memory retention specification of 50 years. However, this ICODE SLIX2 variant is newer and contains a large numebr of feature enhancements.
Generally, these chips are not commonly used in mobile phone NFC applications. While they are similar in cost to the NTAG series, Seritag generally recommend NTAG unless the additional specified memory retention lifespan is specifically required. The ICODE chips are not available in as many formats as the NTAG chips and are typically made to order.
