NFC tags are generally designed to be durable, but their resistance to UV light depends on the materials used in their construction. Most NFC tags consist of an antenna and a microchip encapsulated in plastic or other protective materials. If these materials are UV-resistant, the tags can withstand exposure to sunlight.
However, prolonged exposure to UV light may degrade non-UV-resistant materials, potentially affecting the performance or longevity of the NFC tag.
For outdoor applications, it's advisable to choose NFC tags specifically designed for UV resistance or consider additional protective enclosures to shield them from direct sunlight.
For more extreme conditions, Seritag also use a UV epoxy over the chip before we encapsulate the tag into a disc/label/etc. The memory inside an NFC chip can degrade and fail quickly if exposed to high levels of UV light. While the casing of the tag will protect it, the additional UV epoxy is important in some tag types to create a more durable tag.
