Yes you can it just depends on the tag you use.
Most labels are able to withstand being submerged in water and heat as most household dishwashers only go up to around 60 degrees Celsius.
In restaurant type situations where the dishwashers are hotter disc tags and garment tags will probably work better as they are able to withstand more heat.
There are also dishwasher specific tags that are able to be made with super strong adhesive to endure the water and heat to ensure the tag stays on the item.
If the tags are being placed on metal there are options however we do not recommend them to be placed in the dishwasher as the on-metal ferrite material is often on the outside of the tags. However they are able to be handwashed.
