NTAG210µ vs. ICODE SLIX2

These two chips, the NTAG210µ and the ICODE SLIX2 are from different NFC chip families. The NTAG210µ, manufactured by NXP belonging to the NTAG family, and the ICODE SLIX2, also manufactured by NXP.

The NTAG210µ or NTAG210 micro was released by NXP to create the cheapest possible price point for an NFC chip. Having a small memory capacity and minimal features, it's designed primarily for short ID's, short web links or just for a UID.

However, despite it's limited memory and features, it still packs the same great ScanStrength performance of the rest of the NTAG range. Seritag regularly stock large tag quantities with the NTAG210µ chip as it's a great cost-effective way to add NFC to packaging and products.

The ICODE SLIX is part of NXP's ICODE family of chips. The ICODE series is older than NXP's NTAG series and has a number of significant differences - particularly a longer 8 byte UID and a longer memory retention specification of 50 years. However, this ICODE SLIX2 variant is newer and contains a large numebr of feature enhancements.

Generally, these chips are not commonly used in mobile phone NFC applications. While they are similar in cost to the NTAG series, Seritag generally recommend NTAG unless the additional specified memory retention lifespan is specifically required. The ICODE chips are not available in as many formats as the NTAG chips and are typically made to order.

Both these chips have a strong ScanStrength and will work very well with mobile phones.
