There are vast differences between all microchips for NFC, they're all great but need to be used for different use cases.

The most popular NFC chips are:

NTAG213 - best used for simple applications such as sharing contact information, URL's and basic marketing. This can hold 144 bytes of memory and has 10 year data retention.

NTAG424 - The main use for this chip is authentication, anti-counterfeiting and premium production protection using encryption. This holds 4 KB of memory and has 50 year data retention.

NTAG215 - This chip has moderate data storage, standard functions and gaming. These can store 540 bytes data and has 10 year data retention.

NTAG216 - This chip has larger storage and is great for loyalty programs and asset tracking. These can store 888 bytes of data and has 10 year data retention.

ICODE - These chips have a great scan distance, making it a great chip of choice for asset tracking. This can hold 112 bytes of memory and has 50 year data retention.
