Is it possible to re-program/re-use NFC tags, (e.g. Toll tag)?

Yes, unless an NFC Tag is locked it can be re-written as many times as you want.

If you can't re-write an NFC Tag there are a few reasons this might be the case:

Tag is Locked
If the NFC Tag was locked after it was encoded then there's no way to re-write the data.

It's an Authentication Tag
These Tags are often locked however depending on how it's done you may be able to use the Authentication Key to unlock the Tag and make it writable again. Whoever encrypted the Tag should be able to tell you how they did it and if this is possible with the method they used.

Toll Tags
It's likely that if the Tag contains secure information such as payment details or a unique ID, it will be locked so that it cannot be modified. The issuer of the Toll Tag is the best person to contact regarding this.

If you want to lock a Tag but still change the data on it we'd recommend using a Tag Authentication Platform such as Ixkio, which allows you to remotely modify Tag Data.
