How far can an NFC reader detect?
What is the range of the NFC reader in my iPhone?

The typical range of a standard NFC tags is around 3 to 5 cm. However, larger NFC tags often have greater antenna surface area, which can improve signal strength and extend the range. NFC is still a short range technology so the reader must be close the the chip.
